Increasingly too many people today claim to be Christian but never even read the Bible, faithfully pray or are members of a real Christian church that teaches sound doctrine. Much less do they actually have an intimate relationship with Christ Jesus. As for others, the host of false religions and false gods are more than I wish to count. It is not up to me or even my intention to judge the salvation of others although this paraphrased scripture “Ye shall know them by their fruit” (Mat 12:33-37, Luke 6:44-49) comes into my mind when thinking about it. After taking God out of school, ceasing to pray before meals, watching TV instead of reading the Bible and our secular society forcing everyone to be tolerant of the evil among us has brought the great nation of America to it's spiritual brink of disaster instead of to it's knees in heart felt repentant prayer. One of my philosophies has always been: Either be convicted of your sin by the Holy Spirit now while you still have a chance to repent or be convicted later after it's too late. I thank God that He gave us a choice instead having us as puppets on a string but I know that once you reject Jesus as your Lord and Savior you might not ever receive another chance. Since our flesh is so weak and we all have a tendency to sin against God and others, my prayers continually have the words “make us” or “cause us” (Psalms 90:12-17, 2 Corinthians 2:14-17) embedded within. My prayer for our great nation that I love so much is “Heavenly Father, forgive me of my sin that you may hear my plea. Lend us your strength, diligence and determination to overcome for Thy name sake. Cause us to be doers of Thy Word and not just hearers only. Keep Thy hand upon us. Hide us under the shadow of Thy wing. Build an hedge of protection around us that we might glorify Thee O' Lord. If it be Thy will, let all these things I pray come to pass. In Jesus name, Amen.” At the end of the day, when all is said and done, everyone of us will receive that which is due: Reward for doing right or punishment for doing wrong (Revelation 20:11-15). Without the saving grace of Christ Jesus, all our works are in vain. With the way the world has been, America needs God more than ever. The beginning of sorrows is already upon us (Matthew 24:7-14, Mark 13:7-10, Luke 21:7-13). God is not the God of the dead. He is the God of the living (Matthew 22:32, Mark 12:27, Luke 20:38). Let us therefor walk in newness of life (Romans 6:4) and not in darkness of the shadow of death (Isaiah 9:2-7).
